I love this place. It is private, peaceful and relaxing. The first time I stayed at the Yellow House I was with my family. This time I took some friends and told them we would be staying at a renovated farm house. Their reaction was that it wasn't a farm house but a villa! And after their most recent renovations, it truly is. The newly tiled pool was refreshing and the renovated sitting room with fireplace was a wonderful restful spot on a cool evening. The newly expanded kitchen accommodated all of us and we used the new appliances to make some wonderful meals. The Yellow House is my favorite place to stay and travel from. It was an easy drive to Orvieto to catch a train to Firenze or Roma or anywhere else. Driving to Assisi or Perugia offers some beautiful country scenery and the local wine is wonderful. The town has some great restaurants and pizzerias but the Yellow House has its own wood burning pizza oven. The bakery in town has great bread and the deli next door has fresh meats and cheeses. The supermarket is really close for everything else. I know it sounds like I'm writing a review for a magazine, but I really like this place. It is very reasonable and they will go out of their way to accommodate your needs. Thanks to the owners and caretakers we had a wonderful time again. I look forward to returning. Thank you all.

We’ve just returned from our fifth trip to Yellow House. It was as beautifully peaceful as ever, with its combined ingredients of sunshine, perfect temperature pool, comfortable sunbeds, dappled shade under the oak trees, sounds of birds and crickets, delicious food and wine from the local markets and restaurants, and quiet nights in cool, clean rooms with blackout shutters that promote restorative lie-ins.
We're keen cooks and found everything (and more) that we needed in the kitchen to prepare meals - even catering for 20 one night. The wood pile was fully stocked and a welcome pack of food and drink was provided (for a modest fee) because of our Sunday arrival.
The approach to the house has been newly widened and gravelled and there’s now a mown path down to the stream, where we paddled and sat on the rocks dangling our feet in the water and watching the butterflies and dragonflies.
It’s hard to tear oneself away from the tranquillity of the house and its pool, but we did once or twice in order to discover a pretty circular walk through fields and around vineyards. Lake Bolsena provides a great day out - we ate freshly caught fish in Bolsena town after a browse round the market and then sunbathed, swam and rented a pedalo at Capodimonte.
I love the fact that at the Yellow House everyone can escape – from the demands of computers and phones, from traffic and noise – to a simpler life where you can read, play games, eat pizza made in your own wood fired oven, or eat spit-roasted pork and local salad al fresco with a group of friends in the cool of the evening. Five visits just aren’t enough!

"Our second stay in the Yellow House was just as good as the first. This year we tended to stay at home and make the most of the sunshine and the pool. We really enjoyed the tranquility of the house, the only noise was the crickets which was duly recorded for use as a ring tone - the sound brings back such good memories. During our stay we did visit the Monster Park - wow! We were truly amazed by the size of the statues it is well worth a visit and not far from the villa. We amused ourselves by making our own dough for pizzas and firing up the pizza oven, I'm still practicing the spinning part, maybe I'll get it right next year. We had the most relaxing time at the Yellow House and although there is plenty see and things to do in the area I would recommend taking advantage of the peace and quiet and simply relax in the sunshine and take a dip in the pool when you get too hot then after dinner take your lemoncello up by the pool for some star gazing until it's time for bed. You won't want to leave."

"I travelled with 10 other members of my family across Europe this summer, spending one week at the Yellow House. It is stunning ! A beautiful house with lots and lots of space... no cramping with 11 of us there.... room for more infact! The house had great facilities and everything you needed in a kitchen to be self sufficient. The pool was magnificent and BIG, loads of sun loungers, space and shade in areas if you wanted it.... A quiet and beautiful location with shops and services a short drive away made it the perfect place for us all to have fun, relax and laugh. No near neighbours meant we could totally relax without worrying that we would disturb anyone else with all our children. The owners of the Yellow House are fantastic to deal with and I will certainly be going back again. Absolutely NO negatives about this villa... go and enjoy a truly glorious location and classic house."

"Arrived 14th June 2008 at the Yellow House which totally exceeded our expectations. It is set in beautiful surroundings with closeby to a quaint village which has everything you need. Two couples and 3 children aged 6 months, 3 years and 7 years had lots of fun and spent alot of time in the large pool and ate lots off pizza cooked in the pizza oven! We visited Viterbo, Orvieto and lake Bolsena and did a day trip to Rome but our favorite times were spent relaxing at the house. A definite must is to go to La Tana dell'Istrice in the village where a fantastic host Sergio Mottura will let you sample his wines and prepare you a fantastic lunch. Will definitely be back soon!!!!!"

Paul. Preston. June 2008

"When we go to the Yellow House - and we go as often as we can - our favourite thing to do is to sit and read under the spreading oak tree by the back door while sipping a glass of the excellent Sergio Mottura's wine. Our boys would argue that the gelateria in Bagnoreggio has it over the oak tree, others might propose the mediaval attractions of Bolsena, Orvietto or Civita. And there is, of course, the luxuriously huge pool. But I think they're missing the point. Tranquility is hard to come by. But it can be found under the oak tree at the Yellow House. We are going to the Yellow House for the 5th time next year."

Tim. Hertfordshire. May 08

"I loved Bolsena lake and the colour of the house. The pool facilities are really nice and it's good that there is a shop and a pizza restaurant really close,"

Anna. (aged 12). June 2007

"Great swimming pool, amazing view, great pizza restaurant and good
walks"

Ollie. (aged 12) May 2007

"Thank you for a very relaxing holiday. The house and surroundings are perfect, peaceful and comfortable. It has been a pleasure to enjoy typical rural Italy. We would love to come again."

Darwent family. Eastbourne. Sept 2006

"Very relaxing week in authentic location, ideal weather warm - not to hot. Also good base for varied trips to Orvieto, Bolsena, Villa Lante and Rome by train etc. Great to have a TV free zone - lots of reading done as alternative together with oven barbecues"

Billingsly family. Bucks. Aug 2006

"I got a pet stick insect, it was very big. I love it!"

Ellie (? age)

"What a marvelous holiday. A three week celebration of 50th birthday bringing family together from UK, Switzerland, Hong Kong and Denmark."

Brown family. June 2006

"Very memorable holiday - beautiful house and pool"

O'Rourke. Scotland. May 2006

"Super weeks holiday for adults and children. House perfect, lovely evenings under the oak tree. Recommend La Tana d'Istrice for wine tasting and meal."

Suzanne. England. Sept 2005

"Excellent holiday, superb house and pool and great trips to Bolsena and Orvieto. Recommend the pizza oven for pizza and roast chicken. The Fleur Kinson Bolsena guide book was a treasure trove of information and served us well"

Pickup. England. Aug 2005

"A fantastic holiday. We couldn't have been more comfortable and relaxed. We were able to combine sight seeing around beautiful Orvieto, Bolsena with its glorious volcanic lake (where we swam, went out on the pedalos and even saw a wild Otter much to the children's delight!) and the fascinating City of Civita di Bagnoregio, together with relaxing in the peaceful Italian countryside. On the days we stayed at 'home' we enjoyed the large swimming pool, fishing in the local stream, reading under the Oak tree and even made our own pizzas using dough from the local bakers. We would highly recommend it!"

Pat and Richard, Wokingham. July 2005

"A perfect location surrounded by spectacular scenery and so unspoilt. A lovely house to enjoy the company of all the family"

Pickup, England. Aug 2005

"The most relaxing place we've been to and the local people are very welcoming. Festival on 3rd July in Civitella d'Agliano was fantastic. Recommend La Quercia restaurant for a laid back evening meal."

Nixon, Smith and Dauber families. Northwich, England. July 2005

" A wonderful holiday - serene, restful and beautifully "slow". The house has a restful personality. The Yellow House is situated in a stunning location on a hillside, a healthy 15 mins walk from the main road - It is quiet and restful with no traffic noise, and a fabulous swimming pool on the hillside with views over the valley. Within walking distance is the excellent and cheap 'Pit Stop' Pizzeria, and a further 5 minutes leads to 'The Porcupine's Lair' with superb food and wines at very reasonable prices. A most relaxing and enjoyable holiday - the only trouble is coming home!!!"

Chris and Andrew Wilson, Letchmore Heath, Herts. Sept 2004

"A wonderful holiday! Beautiful setting; the Yellow House is truly a peaceful haven. What more could you want? We loved it!"

Scanella and Whetton family. Aug 2004.

"A perfect fortnight by the pool and under the oak tree, there is really no need to go anywhere else. Stupendo!"

Tim and Sarah. Watford. July 2004

"There is the lake Bolsena near to the house, and it only takes about half an hour to get there. It's sunny nearly every day. My best day was going to the hot springs, (Saturnia) because it has waterfalls and it is nearly as hot as a bath. But the local hot springs is too hot (in one of the pools) in Viterbo"

George, (aged 7), Twickenham, England, June 2004

"Lovely, stylish house in a really beautiful area - a wonderful bonus to find that we could catch fish in the stream and make models of the clay from the river. The children loved looking for porcupines (and fairies which we're pretty sure live near the caves). Picked wild flowers every day and fresh herbs form the garden. My idea of heaven. Didn't really need to stray far from the house because of the lovely pool and river - but when we did, we couldn't believe how beautiful the area is. Nowhere is ugly! And there's a really handy, cheap supermarket up the road."

Becky, Twickenham, England, June 2004

"Idyllic, relaxing and unspoilt, just perfect - thank you."
